Practical garden planning, with the limits made clear

Zone Garden turns public, traceable horticultural guidance into simple planning tools for U.S. gardeners.

Why this site exists

A USDA Zone describes how cold winter usually gets. Vegetable planting dates depend more directly on local frost, soil temperature, current weather and the needs of each crop. Our tools keep those two questions separate.

How we work

We prefer original government records and university garden guides. Each guide identifies its source and review date. We do not invent ZIP-to-Zone matches, planting dates, experts, reviews or search statistics.

What this site cannot promise

Gardening results vary with weather, warmer or colder spots in a yard, soil, seed variety and care. Our schedules are estimates, not guarantees. Check the current forecast, seed packet and conditions in your own garden before planting.
